Summary

Russell Friedman is a professor of medieval philosophy and theology at the University of Leuven. These books go back to 1992 when he began to write the doctoral dissertation he presented to the University of Iowa in 1997. In 2008 it morphed into four lectures at the Ecole pratique des hautes études in the Sorbonne. Cambridge published these lectures in 2010; and in 2013 Brill published the magesterial version of what he began to write in 1992.
